At times, I could hear my heartbeat within my chest. Blackness not only surrounded us, but consumed us, creeping at our backs and devouring all but that which was immediately before us. And yet, somehow I thought I spied movement.A quick, darting movement. A shadow.And then, something in the air. A bluish vapor it was – a glowing bluish vapor.It burnt my eyes. My ears rung. My head grew faint with pain.The others felt it too. Lago stopped and turned. Shook his head. Woxik stumbled and put his arm against the wall. Mirasa reached her hand out at the nothingness. But it seemed to vanish into thin air.I looked up ahead and saw that the woman was gone.In her place was another shadowy figure – I could just make out its dark form from the torchlight. It approached, as did another, and another, and another yet. In a moment, all of us were surrounded by these lanky, shadowy figures, each with long, menacing nails.We were relieved of our weapons and marched along – I can’t say how far – I was too distracted by the things appearing and disappearing: a pool of water, a monstrous dog with glaring eyes, flowers with teeth, men without skin.Constant moaning and screaming echoing off the walls.At last we seemed to come to some sort of village, with ever more shadow figures. There were torches providing scant light, but enough for me to see their horrid forms better now. They were as dark as night, with long, thin, muscular arms, each with four fingers, including a thumb, all topped with those sharp, dagger-like nails. The legs were much the same. Their bodies were smooth and slim, their backs hunched. The head was monstrous, with a tremendous lower jaw. The teeth, I noticed, were black.We were thrown to the ground in a spot before a low rock wall.
